Which program is best for my dog?

At Companion Canine LLC, our Board & Train Programs are designed to meet your individual goals, and to meet your dog’s individual needs. It’s hard to say which program would be best for your dog, because every dog is different, every handler is different, and every living situation at home is different. But what we can say is this:

more is better.

More time means more repetitions, more fullfillment, and more situations that your dog will be well equipped to handle. Not to mention the more weeks completed, the more money you save! Below are some example goals, and which program we may generally recommend for them.

    • Eligibility: completed a B&T program with us or completed 8 in-person training sessions

    • Training a single new skill (loose leash walking, recall, holding position, etc.)

    • Setting a foundation of basic obedience.

    • Improving your current obedience system

    • This option works best if your dog already has a solid foundation and/or you’ve already done training with us in the past.

    • Teaching multiple new skills (i.e. heeling, long recall, holding positions, etc.)

    • Proofing obedience (i.e. heeling past other dogs, recalling away from people)

    • Building environmental indifference

    • Off-leash reliability

    • Advanced training goals

    • Reliable obedience in stimulating environments

    • Behavioral issues (separation anxiety, reactivity, fear, etc.)

Board & Train FAQs

  • We have had many board and train clients from all over the United States. No dog is too far to come stay with us and learn!

  • We recommend not to visit because it could interrupt and delay the training process, but we will send weekly photos, videos, and updates!

  • No way! While we do utilize crate training and rotate crate times throughout the day, unlike other Board and Train Programs your dog is going to be integrated into our pack in our home. On our 5 acre homestead your dog (alongside ours) will get equal time between crates, kennel runs, training sessions, day outings, free time, enrichment activities, structured home rest, playtime, biological fulfillment, and proper socialization.

  • That depends on the level your dog is at when they come to us. Different dogs have different levels of learning. We will teach your dog at a level they excel at and while they will come back with beautiful, newly learned behaviors, it will be up to you to continue on with the training!

  • You may! If you decide you want to keep advancing your dog’s training then we can email you an extension form and we can extend your personalized training program. This requires at least one week’s notice before the assigned pick up date.

  • ● 10+ years training dogs

    ● Gueseppe ran and operated a board and train program for a large company in the Bay Area of California.

    ● Becky ran and operated a board and train program for a large company in the LA area.

    ● They both have worked with hundreds of dogs, each training them personally.

    ● They both have had multiple, amazing mentors that have taught them proper dog handling and problem solving skills.

    ● They used to train over 7 dogs each a day (yikes!), so they are very excited to do justice to the dogs and dog’s family that are seeking a more realistic, intimate, home-style board and train program that is being offered here at Companion Canine!

  • Yes. You can review our Board & Train Agreement by clicking here.

  • “Unlike most traditional “shock collars” our E-Collars use a form of stimulus that targets the neck muscles of the dog. With stimulation levels ranging from 1 to 100, our E-Collars allow you to adjust the stimulation to a level that is best suited to gently communicate with your dog. That “best level” can be locked to prevent over-stimulation and easily adjusted for a higher distraction environment when necessary.” -www.ecollar.com

Dogs learn best through tactile communication, that is why we choose to train and educate people on the humane and ethical use of E Collars. It is our goal to give YOU the confidence of control, safety, and crystal clear communication with your canine companion. These amazing tools truly save owner-dog relationships as well as so many dog’s lives! Please feel free to ask us more about them during our Free Phone Consultation!

  • Normally we do not, but we are open to having that conversation if it would allow your dog to get the help that they need.

  • Visit our Instagram B&T highlight to check out previous dogs we’ve trained and what those days look like!

  • No, and there are many reasons for this. We operate the program out of our personal home, and limiting the amount of visitors helps us maintain privacy for us and our clients, while minimizing stress for our Board & Train dogs and farm animals.
